Battle
Creek Lodge.
We fished Battle Creek just after ice out, before the season really starts.
We were fishing to stillwater cruising trout in knee-deep water. These
spring fed ponds offer an abundance of food and the size of the fish showed
that the fish took advantage of this regularly. Located in Choteau, MT
the lodge is very nice, and accommodations are very well done.
We hooked more fish than we could count using a small scud pattern stripped
in front of these feeding fish. This is the best description I can give.
We could not count how many fish we caught over 20. We do remember
that we caught 8 fish over 25. If you are unfamiliar with stillwaters,
this is an excellent place to start, as there is a guide on the premises,
and a great change to the fine fluvial fishing we have here in Missoula.
Just three hours from Missoula, a great beginning or end to your trip
to Missoula.
